Geltrude is one of the people I care about the most in the world. She’s my grandmother to me, even though she’s not my mother’s mom. She raised me and loved me like I was her granddaughter and I will always be so grateful to her for doing that just out of love and kindness.

It will always surprise me that a woman that had no real reason to spend more than a decade with a child that wasn’t related to her, took care of me, without ever giving me the sense of not belonging there, of not being part of her family. I always felt how genuinely she loved me, she of course has her flaws, but with me she was always the kindest, most understanding person.

I wish that she could live forever and I wish I could really show her how much she means to me.

The idea of this work is dedicated to people like her that I was lucky to meet in my life.

I hope that this work will accomplish even just a small part toward that.

Geltrude è una delle persone alle quali tengo di più al mondo. La considero mia nonna, nonostante non sia realmente la madre di mia mamma. Mi ha cresciuta e amata come se fossi sua nipote e le sarò sempre grata per averlo fatto, semplicemente per amore e gentilezza.

Mi sorprenderà per sempre come una donna che non aveva nessuna reale ragione per passare più di un decennio con una bambina che non era effettivamente parte della sua famiglia, lo abbia fatto con tale affetto.

Si è presa cura di me senza darmi mai la sensazione che non appartenessi in quel luogo veramente o che non fossimo parenti per davvero.

Ho sempre percepito quanto davvero mi volesse bene. Ha naturalmente i suoi difetti, ma con me è sempre stata la persona più gentile e comprensiva che io conosca.

Vorrei che potesse vivere per sempre e vorrei poterle veramente mostrare quanto è importante per me.

L’idea alla base di questo lavoro è dedicata a persone come lei, che ho avuto la fortuna di conoscere nella mia vita. Spero che questo progetto possa mostrarle anche solo un po’ di quello che intendo.
